Our Therapeutic Programme
Structured support in a calm and predictable environment
Oatlands offers a structured in-patient therapeutic programme designed to support emotional stabilisation, recovery and long-term resilience.
Care is delivered within a consistent daily routine that combines therapy, reflection and practical skill-building.
PROGRAMME SESSIONS
Stress Reduction Therapy
Stress Reduction Therapy focuses on experiential learning, giving patients practical tools to improve both mental and physical wellbeing. It includes coping skills, mindfulness practices, emotional regulation techniques and relaxation strategies that can be integrated into daily life.
Patterns of Emotion and Behaviour
In sessions we examine how early experiences and significant life events shape enduring emotional patterns and influence behaviour in everyday situations. Patients learn to recognise these patterns, understand their impact, and develop more adaptive and constructive ways of responding.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy focuses on the stories people hold about themselves and how these influence identity and behaviour. Patients are encouraged to explore and reframe limiting narratives in order to build a healthier sense of meaning and direction.
Psych Education
Psych Education provides practical psychological insight with a focus on emotional awareness and mental health understanding. It helps patients better understand their thoughts, emotions, relationships and coping mechanisms.
Creative Expression
Creative Expression offers a non-verbal therapeutic space using art, writing, movement and other creative methods. The focus is on expression and exploration rather than outcome, supporting emotional processing in a safe environment.
Personality and Communication
Sessions focus on how personality influences communication, behaviour and relationships. Patients develop self-awareness and practical skills to improve interpersonal effectiveness.
HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS
Therapeutic rhythm
The programme follows a structured daily routine designed to provide stability and consistency.
On arrival patients receive a file that provides information and outlines the schedule.
Multidisciplinary care
Patients are supported by a clinical team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff and occupational therapy input where required.
Regular reviews ensure that treatment remains appropriate and aligned with recovery progress.
SUPPORTING RECOVERY
Supporting recovery beyond admission
The aim of the programme is not only stabilisation, but meaningful recovery that supports life beyond Oatlands.
Patients are supported to develop:
- Emotional stability
- Practical coping tools
- Improved self-understanding
- Greater resilience in daily life
